The Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Jide Idris, made the remark during a high-level technical visit to the Kano Independent Research Centre Trust in Kano on Wednesday. Central Bank of Nigeria has issued new interpretative guidance involving troubled banks and other financial institutions, setting a maximum period of two business days for the suspension of certain contractual obligations during the resolution of failing banks. In a circular disclosed on Wednesday and addressed to all banks and other financial institutions, the apex bank said the clarification is intended to remove uncertainty surrounding the implementation of Sections 34(2)(b) and 40(2) of the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA), 2020.
