The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged the Federal Government to urgently intervene as petrol prices rise to about ₦1,430 per litre in major cities. In a statement signed by its President, Joe Ajaero, on Wednesday, the NLC warned that the latest increase would deepen the economic hardship facing Nigerians. The labour centre said rising petrol prices would push up transportation costs and trigger further increases in food prices, rent, school fees and other essential goods and services. The Kogi State Ministry of Education, through the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), has opened bids for the construction of 28 combined junior and senior secondary schools across the 21 local government areas of the state. The bid opening, held on Wednesday at the Kogi State AGILE Project Office in Lokoja, is part of the World Bank-supported intervention aimed at expanding learning opportunities and providing safer and more conducive learning environments for adolescent girls.
