Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has officially removed the mandatory Tax Clearance Certificate (TCC) as a registration requirement for both new and returning students. This decision follows a directive issued by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ododo, who responded to public concerns about the policy.
Announcing the development, the Vice Chancellor of CUSTECH, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu, disclosed that the governor’s directive was conveyed through the Chairman of the Kogi State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Alhaji Sule Enehe. Prof. Salawu stated that the institution has immediately complied with the governor’s instruction to cancel the TCC requirement, which was previously introduced by the revenue board.
The Prof noted that the removal of the tax clearance requirement demonstrates the state government’s sensitivity to the financial burdens faced by students and their families. He highlighted the university’s readiness to adapt policies that align with the governor’s vision of promoting accessible and inclusive education.
In his remarks, Prof. Salawu expressed profound gratitude to Governor Ododo for his swift intervention and commitment to addressing public grievances. He acknowledged the governor’s leadership in ensuring that the voices of the masses are heard and acted upon, particularly on issues affecting education.
The university community has warmly welcomed this decision, viewing it as a relief for parents and students who previously struggled to meet the TCC requirement.
