Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has expressed support for the Produce for Lagos initiative championed by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Speaking at the official launch of the initiative in Lagos, Governor Ododo commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s $1 billion Greener Hope Agricultural Productivity Programme, saying the initiative is a strategic step towards strengthening food security and advancing the Federal Government’s agricultural development drive.
He described the programme as a bold and timely intervention aimed at addressing food insecurity and youth unemployment across the country.

Governor Ododo noted that the Produce for Lagos initiative reflects the potential of interstate collaboration in strengthening agricultural value chains, bridging supply gaps, and stimulating rural economies.
“This initiative, spearheaded by Governor Sanwo-Olu, is both visionary and timely, it aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and exemplifies how states can collaborate to address national challenges” he stated.
He further stated that Kogi State, with its vast arable land and strategic location, is well positioned to contribute meaningfully to the food supply needs of Lagos and other states especially the 10 states and the Federal Capital Territory sharing boundaries with Kogi State.

According to him, his administration is committed to enhancing agricultural productivity and supporting national efforts aimed at achieving food sufficiency.
In his remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo and the Governors of Ogun, Niger and Taraba States for identifying with the initiative.
He emphasized that sustained interstate partnerships remain vital to ensuring food security and building a resilient national economy.

The event attracted stakeholders from across the agricultural value chain, including representatives of the Federal Government, state governments, development partners, farmers’ cooperatives and the organized private sector.
Discussions at the launch focused on improving logistics, reducing post-harvest losses, and expanding access to credit and technology for rural farmers.
