The appointment, he said, is in recognition of Dr. Monday’s selfless service during critical health crises, including the COVID-19 pandemic and recurring Lassa fever outbreaks.
“His dedication during disease outbreaks represents the spirit of service we must all emulate,” the governor said.
Governor Ododo described Dr. Monday as a seasoned public health expert whose track record of service in the state has been both commendable and inspiring.

In his response, Dr. Monday expressed gratitude to the governor for the trust reposed in him, pledging to build on the agency’s existing frameworks and improve inter-agency collaboration, especially in the areas of prevention, treatment, and public education on HIV/AIDS.
KOSACA has been at the forefront of coordinating Kogi State’s response to HIV/AIDS since its establishment, working in partnership with organizations like the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), as well as international development organizations.
The agency is tasked with implementing state-level HIV/AIDS policy, coordinating donor-funded programmes, and raising public awareness about prevention and treatment.
