The Armed Forces Ex-Servicemen Families Development Association (AFEFDA) has thrown its weight behind the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, endorsing him for a second term in office in recognition of his leadership strides in security management and social development.

The endorsement, according to the association, reflects Governor Ododo’s consistent commitment to the welfare of military families and his determination to make Kogi a model of peace and stability.

The declaration was made during a virtual conference convened by AFEFDA’s President and Founder, Mr. Shamsudeen Sarki, with members and state coordinators drawn from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Sarki described Ododo’s approach to leadership as “result-oriented and people-centered,” noting that his reforms in Kogi’s security architecture have enhanced public safety and improved the welfare of security personnel.

Mr. Sarki highlighted the governor’s personal involvement in supporting military families, especially his commitment during the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration to extend assistance to widows and dependents of fallen heroes.

He described such gestures as a mark of compassion and leadership uncommon among public officials. “Governor Ododo’s engagement with security operatives on the frontlines shows genuine empathy and courage.

His administration has demonstrated practical concern for those who risk their lives to protect the state,” Sarki stated.

Beyond Kogi State, the AFEFDA president also applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he termed “a renewed drive for national rebirth,” citing ongoing reforms and security interventions aimed at repositioning the country for sustainable growth.

He maintained that both Tinubu and Ododo have shown a shared vision for peace and development, deserving public trust and continuity in leadership.

The Association further commended the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, and all security agencies for their coordinated efforts in safeguarding the nation from threats of insurgency and criminality.

Sarki said their sacrifices and strategic coordination remain vital to Nigeria’s unity and sovereignty.

He urged Nigerians, particularly residents of Kogi State, to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of government policies that promote peace and development.

Mr. Sarki also encouraged citizens, especially members of the ex-servicemen community, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the next elections to contribute to building a secure and progressive nation.
