Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has announced automatic employment for the best-graduating students across all faculties of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.
Governor Ododo disclosed this in his address as the visitor and special guest of honour at the first convocation of the university – marking a major highlight of the institution’s maiden convocation ceremony on Saturday.
The beneficiaries emerged from the 2023/2024 set and the 2024/2025 set from Faculty of Computing and Informatics and the Faculty of Science.
Governor Ododo said the gesture reflects his administration’s commitment to rewarding excellence and strengthening the pipeline of skilled professionals who will contribute to the state’s technological and industrial development.
The Governor commended former Governor Yahaya Bello, whom he referred to as the founder of CUSTECH, for laying the foundation on which the institution has continued to thrive.
He praised the vision of his predecessor for establishing a science and technology-focused university and assured that his administration will continue to consolidate and expand on the achievements.
Governor Ododo also announced plans for the perimeter fencing of the university’s 400 hectares of land area, noting that the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain a top priority.
He added trained security personnel have already been deployed to guarantee safety within and around the university campus.
The Governor noted that the administration remains commitment to leveraging technology to combat insecurity, safeguard communities, and improve overall security architecture of the state.
In his goodwill message, former Governor Yahaya Bello congratulated the university community on the historic convocation.
He expressed delight at the progress the institution has recorded and commended Governor Ododo for sustaining and improving on the development of infrastructure already put in place.
