Tammy Abraham’s Late Strike Secures Aston Villa a Dramatic Draw Against Leeds

Substitute Tammy Abraham scored his first Premier League goal since returning to Aston Villa F.C., earning his side a dramatic late draw against Leeds United F.C.

Leeds appeared on course for only their second away league win of the season after Anton Stach produced a stunning 30-yard free-kick in the 31st minute. Seemingly aiming for the far post, Stach caught goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez off guard, with the ball curling into the top corner.

Abraham, who rejoined Villa from Besiktas J.K. in an £18.2m deal during the January transfer window, levelled the score by guiding the ball into the net with his knee after a knockdown from Ezri Konsa following a corner.

Villa, who could have drawn level on points with second-placed Manchester City F.C. with a victory, dominated proceedings after falling behind and ultimately earned a deserved point. They came close in first-half stoppage time, but Karl Darlow produced an excellent save to deny Amadou Onana. The pressure continued after the break, with Darlow again at full stretch to tip Emiliano Buendia’s effort onto the post with an impressive one-handed stop.

However, the Leeds goalkeeper was finally beaten in the 88th minute as Abraham struck to secure a dramatic equaliser.

The result leaves Villa third in the table, seven points behind leaders Arsenal F.C., who face Tottenham Hotspur F.C. in the North London derby on Sunday. Leeds, meanwhile, move seven points clear of the relegation zone.
