PSG Seize Control as Kvaratskhelia Strikes Twice in Chelsea Collapse

A costly mistake from Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen triggered a late collapse as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored twice to hand Champions League holders Paris Saint‑Germain a commanding three-goal advantage ahead of next week’s last-16 second leg.

Chelsea had battled back impressively to make it 2-2, but Jorgensen’s misplaced pass went straight to Bradley Barcola and was punished when Vitinha lobbed the stranded goalkeeper, restoring PSG’s lead for the third time at the Parc des Princes.

Substitute Kvaratskhelia then produced a moment of brilliance, curling a stunning strike from the edge of the box before sealing the night with a composed side-footed finish in the final moments to make it 5-2.

The result was harsh on Chelsea, who had performed strongly for much of the match despite falling behind early. Barcola opened the scoring with a powerful effort through a crowd of players after Ousmane Dembele’s cross was headed into his path.

Jorgensen later pushed Dembele’s fierce shot on to the post, but Chelsea responded when Malo Gusto levelled the match, finishing past goalkeeper Matvei Safonov after being picked out by Enzo Fernandez.

Moments after Cole Palmer had tested Safonov, Dembele restored PSG’s lead. The French winger raced beyond Wesley Fofana and calmly finished after clever build-up play from Desire Doue, who skipped past Moises Caicedo and Trevoh Chalobah before setting up the move.

Chelsea struck back again early in the second half when Doue was dispossessed by Pedro Neto, whose low cross was turned in by Fernandez to make it 2-2.

But PSG boss Luis Enrique soon introduced Kvaratskhelia, and the Georgian winger made a decisive impact. Jorgensen’s misplaced pass allowed Vitinha to chip the goalkeeper and put PSG ahead once more before Kvaratskhelia’s stunning curling effort and late finish sealed a 5-2 victory for the European champions.
