Ododo Pushes New Vision for Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has declared a decisive push to reposition the state for rapid development and economic prosperity, pledging openness to innovative ideas that can transform the state for a better future.

The Governor made this known at the Kogi Rebrand 2026 forum, themed “Reimagining Kogi: Unlocking Opportunities and Building Prosperity,” held at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Lokoja.

Governor Ododo said the event is aimed at reshaping both internal and external perceptions of the state, emphasizing that governance under his administration is focused on people-centered policies.

He highlighted ongoing strides across key sectors including rural development, healthcare, education, security, and agriculture, stressing the importance of strategic storytelling in shaping Kogi’s image.

According to him, “We must tell our own stories, tell them well, and tell them consistently, or risk having others define us.”

The Governor also pointed to Kogi’s strategic geographic location as a gateway to economic growth, noting that investments such as the proposed airport project are designed to position the state as a hub for investment, innovation, and commerce.

He further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policies he said are yielding positive impacts on the state.

In his remarks, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, described the rebranding effort as a strategic move to redefine Kogi’s identity and reclaim its rightful place in Nigeria’s development landscape.

He praised Governor Ododo’s leadership, noting that deliberate communication strategies are being deployed to project the state on the basis of its strengths and opportunities.

Delivering the keynote address, Lead Consultant, Lizy Water Nigeria Limited and Co- Facilitator, Dahiru Majeed commended the administration’s focus on welfare, security, and other critical sectors of the economy.

Also speaking, former Deputy Governor of Kogi State and Chairman of the Occasion, Yomi Awoniyi, called for a clear vision, strategic partnerships, and inclusiveness in positioning Kogi as an attractive investment destination.

The event featured presentations from commissioners, who highlighted achievements, ongoing projects, and future plans across ministries, departments and agencies as the state intensifies efforts to redefine its development narrative.

They assured of the administration’s clear path to development in line with the vision of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
