Shakira, Burna Boy to Perform Official 2026 FIFA World Cup Song at Opening Ceremony

Colombian pop star Shakira and Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy are set to perform the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City.

The duo will perform Dai Dai, the official World Cup anthem, at the Estadio Azteca on June 11 before the opening match between Mexico and South Africa.

According to FIFA, the song celebrates football’s ability to bring people together across different cultures and nations. The title, Dai Dai, is an Italian expression meaning “let’s go” or “come on.”

The opening ceremony will also feature performances from Colombian reggaeton artist J Balvin and South African singer Tyla.

FIFA said Shakira and Burna Boy were chosen because of their global influence and ability to capture the energy, passion, and spirit of the World Cup.

Shakira’s appearance marks another chapter in her long association with the tournament, following the success of previous World Cup hits such as Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) and La La La.

She is also expected to perform at the World Cup final on July 19 as part of the tournament’s first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show.
