Scotland Thrash Bolivia to Send Strong World Cup Warning

Scotland delivered an emphatic statement ahead of their first men’s World Cup appearance in 28 years with a stunning friendly victory over Bolivia at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey.

Steve Clarke’s side produced a remarkable first-half display, scoring four goals before the break to leave supporters in disbelief just a week before their Group C opener against Haiti on 14 June.

Lawrence Shankland continued his fine form after scoring twice against Curacao, opening the scoring with a header from captain Andy Robertson’s cross to strengthen his claim for a starting spot.

Strike partner Che Adams also impressed, netting twice in a dominant opening 45 minutes. He first tapped in from a brilliant Ben Gannon-Doak delivery before adding a powerful low strike later in the half.

Scott McTominay was also on target, with the midfielder capitalising on uncertainty from Bolivia goalkeeper Guillermo Viscarra to further extend Scotland’s advantage.

Although Scotland failed to add to their first-half tally after the break, Clarke’s men remained dangerous throughout, with Shankland going closest after missing a clear opportunity.

Unlike the cautious reaction that followed last week’s win over Curacao, there was no downplaying this commanding performance as Scotland head into the World Cup full of confidence ahead of their first finals appearance since 1998.
