Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed support for security agencies in the fight against crime, declaring that the resources of the state must be deployed to protect lives and property and for the overall wellbeing of the people.

Governor Ododo made the declaration during an inspection of the ongoing construction of the 21 Battalion Nigerian Army Barracks in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area of the state.

The Governor commended the military and other security agencies for their dedication and coordinated efforts in tackling insecurity across the State.

He praised officers and men of the Armed Forces for their courage, professionalism and sacrifices in safeguarding communities, expressing confidence in their capacity to eliminate criminal elements and sustain the gains already recorded in ongoing security operations.

According to him, the increased presence and activities of security operatives in Kogi East have led to a significant reduction in incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry and communal clashes, sending a clear message that Kogi State is not a safe haven for criminal activities.

“I am here today to appreciate all the gallant officers who are making sacrifices daily to ensure that our people sleep with their two eyes closed. Since your arrival, the security situation in Kogi East has improved tremendously. Cases of kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal activities have reduced significantly,” the Governor said.

Governor Ododo assured security agencies of his administration’s continued support, stressing that no amount of resources would be considered excessive when it comes to protecting lives and property.

He noted that creating a peaceful and secure environment remains a top priority of his administration.

The Governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting sub-national governments in addressing security challenges across the country.

He also commended the Office of the National Security Adviser, Service Chiefs and all security formations for their sustained support in strengthening security architecture in Kogi State.

He further disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the provision of air support for security operations whenever necessary, describing the intervention as a major boost to ongoing efforts to combat criminality and maintain peace across the state.

Governor Ododo reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue investing in security, emphasizing that the protection of lives and property remains the foundation for sustainable development and prosperity in the State.
