Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, Ondo State, have called on the party to field candidates with proven grassroots appeal and strong electoral value as preparations for the 2027 General Election gather momentum.
The appeal was made during the APC Grassroots Engagement Network (APC-GEN) Voter Education and Grassroots Mobilisation Outreach held in Okitipupa.
The stakeholders noted that while the APC emerged victorious in the recent Ondo South Senatorial by-election, the exercise underscored the need to improve voter mobilisation and participation across the constituency. They stressed that a stronger grassroots campaign would be crucial to delivering an overwhelming mandate for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
According to the participants, the party’s success will depend on the combined efforts of its leaders, elected officials and supporters in mobilising voters at the community level.
The forum also recognised High Chief Dele Omosehin for his sustained commitment to the party and his longstanding relationship with residents of Okitipupa/Irele. They described him as a respected party stalwart whose widespread acceptance could further strengthen the APC’s electoral prospects.
The stakeholders urged President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership to ensure that candidates chosen for the 2027 elections possess the ability to unite party members, attract broad public support and secure convincing victories for the party.
