Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has said his administration is looking to leverage Nigeria’s diplomatic network to attract foreign investment and expand partnerships for the development of the State.
Gov. Ododo stated this in Abuja while receiving the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaye, who paid him a courtesy visit to express support for the development agenda of the Kogi state government under Governor Ododo.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, the Governor, described the Minister as an accomplished diplomat whose extensive experience in international relations would enhance Nigeria’s foreign engagements and open new opportunities for national development.
Governor Ododo described the Minister’s appointment as a well-deserved recognition of his distinguished career in Nigeria’s foreign service, noting that his performance since assuming office reflected professionalism, patriotism, and a commitment to public service.
“We are proud of your appointment because it is well deserved. Your experience in diplomacy and your commitment to national service have prepared you for this responsibility. Since assuming office, you have continued to demonstrate the qualities of a true ambassador of our state and our nation,” the Governor said.
Ododo said his administration would continue to collaborate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant institutions to attract investment, strengthen international cooperation, and expand development opportunities for the state.
He added that the government would continue to leverage the expertise and networks of accomplished Kogi indigents serving in strategic positions across Nigeria and abroad to advance the state’s development objectives.
The Governor also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Ambassador Enikanolaye, expressing confidence that the Minister would justify the confidence reposed in him through dedicated service.
Speaking during the visit, Enikanolaye said he was committed to working closely with the Kogi State Government to facilitate strategic partnerships, attract foreign investments, and showcase the state’s economic potential to the international community.
“I have come to formally align with Your Excellency’s vision for Kogi State and to assure you of my readiness to work with your administration in building strategic partnerships that will attract investments and open greater opportunities for our people.
Kogi has immense potential, and I am committed to supporting every effort to project those opportunities to the international community,” he said.
The Minister also commended Governor Ododo’s leadership style, particularly his commitment to security, inclusive governance, and infrastructural development, pledging continued support for efforts aimed at improving the welfare of the people of Kogi state.
