Three Nigerian Pupils Emerge World Champions at International STEM Olympiad

‎Nigeria has recorded another major achievement on the global academic stage as three pupils emerged among the world’s best at the International STEM Olympiad, winning gold medals in their respective categories.

‎The outstanding pupils are Chimdiebube Onwubiko, Don Anele Munachimso, and Onyedikachi Egejurum, whose performances placed Nigeria among the top-performing nations at the international competition.

‎The achievement was announced by education technologist Alex Onyia in a post shared on X, where he described the feat as a landmark moment for the country’s education sector.

‎According to Onyia, Don Anele Munachimso won a gold medal in Science and was named the overall best student in the world in the category.

He noted that Munachimso had previously been recognised as Nigeria’s top performer in IGCSE Chemistry. Onyedikachi Egejurum also claimed a gold medal after emerging as the world’s best in the Primary Mathematics category, while Chimdiebube Onwubiko secured a gold medal for his exceptional performance at the competition.

‎He further said that the country’s investment in identifying and nurturing young talents is beginning to produce remarkable results, expressing confidence that the success marks the start of even greater accomplishments for Nigeria.

‎The International STEM Olympiad is a global competition that brings together outstanding young learners from different countries to showcase their knowledge and skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
