KPSF Hails Tinubu Over Approval of 108km Kogi-Anambra Road Project

The Kogi Progressive Stakeholders Forum (KPSF) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the design and procurement of the 108-kilometre Otuocha-Anam-Ibaji-Idah road, a major infrastructure project expected to strengthen connectivity between Kogi and Anambra states.

In a statement signed by the forum’s State Coordinator, Sani Philips, KPSF expressed appreciation to the President for what it described as his unwavering commitment to infrastructure development and the overall well-being of Nigerians.

The group disclosed that the request for the construction of the road was presented during its one-day Zonal Strategic Meeting held on July 9, 2026, in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area. The meeting, convened to strategise for President Tinubu’s re-election campaign, also served as a platform for stakeholders to urge the Federal Government to prioritise the Otuocha-Ibaji-Idah road project.

According to the statement, the President responded promptly by approving the design and procurement of the Otuocha-Nzam-Ibaji-Idah road on July 13, 2026. KPSF described the approval as evidence of President Tinubu’s responsiveness to the concerns and aspirations of Nigerians.

The forum noted that the approval had been warmly received by residents of Ibaji and Idah Local Government Areas in Kogi East, stressing that the project would stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities and improve socio-economic activities in communities across both Kogi and Anambra states.

It added that the completed road would unlock significant economic potential by connecting rural farming communities to major commercial centres, reducing travel time and enhancing the transport corridor linking the South-East with the North-Central region. According to the group, the project is expected to boost trade, improve the movement of goods and services, and support regional economic integration.

KPSF also highlighted the road approval as part of the Tinubu administration’s broader infrastructure agenda, citing landmark projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, the Kano-Maradi Railway and the newly approved Otuocha-Nzam-Ibaji-Idah road as indicators of the administration’s commitment to national development.

On the economy, the forum praised the administration’s reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, describing them as measures aimed at strengthening government finances and restoring macroeconomic stability. It also noted that Nigeria’s external reserves rose to $51.04 billion by mid-June 2026, attributing the increase to improved foreign exchange inflows, higher oil earnings and renewed investor confidence.

The group further commended the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing the initiative as a significant intervention that provides interest-free loans to tertiary institution students and expands access to higher education.

Speaking on agriculture, KPSF acknowledged the administration’s efforts to address food security through the declaration of a state of emergency on food insecurity, the creation of a ₦100 billion Agricultural Development Fund and the rollout of the National Livestock Programme aimed at increasing agricultural productivity and reducing farmer-herder conflicts.

The forum also appreciated the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, for his consistent advocacy for the construction of the Otuocha-Anam-Ibaji-Idah road and his efforts in drawing the Federal Government’s attention to its importance.

KPSF reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising support for President Tinubu’s re-election, as well as other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ahead of the forthcoming Presidential and National Assembly elections.
