The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) says it will continue to strengthen regulatory compliance and foster a culture of professionalism through initiatives that encourage healthy competition, and promote excellence.
One of the fresh steps taken by the nation’s advertising watchdog is the inauguration of a special committee to organize upcoming awards ceremony honoring exemplary players in the industry.
Speaking at the inauguration of its special awards committee tasked with planning and executing the forthcoming ARCON Special Recognition and Advertising Standards Panel (ASP) Awards Ceremony in Lagos, ARCON Director-General Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo said the awards reflects the regulator’s broader commitment to strengthening compliance and encourage healthy competition across Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications industry.
The awards, according to the Director General will spotlight advertisers, agencies, media organizations, and individuals who have shown strong adherence to advertising regulations and industry best practices, as well as those whose work has advanced ethical standards and professional excellence in the sector.
Dr. Fadolapo stated that the committee members were chosen for their professional competence, industry experience, and integrity, and urged them to uphold transparency throughout the process.
“This committee has been entrusted with an important responsibility. The credibility of the awards will depend on a process that is transparent, inclusive and guided by excellence. We are confident that the calibre of individuals appointed to serve will ensure that the awards remain a respected platform for recognizing merit and inspiring higher standards across the industry,” he said.
He charged the committee with developing the awards framework, setting nomination and assessment criteria, securing partnerships and sponsorships, and ensuring the event’s successful delivery.
Chairman of the committee and Group Executive Director, Omnicom Media Group, West & Central Africa, Yinka Adebayo, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the members and pledged their collective commitment to delivering a credible, inclusive, and memorable awards programme.
“We recognize the significance of this assignment and the expectations that accompany it. The committee will work diligently to ensure that every stage of the process reflects fairness, accountability and excellence. We look forward to delivering an awards programme that commands the confidence and respect of stakeholders,” Adebayo said.
Mr Adebayo disclosed that further details on the award categories, nomination procedures, eligibility criteria, timelines and the date of the awards ceremony will be announced in due course.
