Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed four suspected kidnappers, rescued three abducted victims and arrested eight suspects during a series of coordinated security operations across Kogi, Kwara and Plateau states.

According to an operational report obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja, troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Egbe rescued two victims who were abducted on July 21 at Ruga Mascaru in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The report said the kidnappers fled upon sighting the troops, allowing the victims to be rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.

In Kwara State, troops under Operation Savannah Shield ambushed suspected kidnappers at a crossing point near Jonloji village in the riverine area of Kaiama Local Government Area. The operation resulted in the death of four suspects, while one kidnapped victim was rescued.

Security operatives also recovered a pump-action gun, four motorcycles and N64,000 in cash from the scene. The rescued victim was taken to the General Hospital in Kaiama for medical treatment.

The report further disclosed that troops in Plateau State arrested three suspects for allegedly attempting to rape a 12-year-old girl in Bokkos Local Government Area before handing them over to the police for further investigation.

It added that soldiers intervened in a dispute between a farmer and a herder over the alleged destruction of farmland, arresting the farmer and evacuating the injured herder for medical attention.

The troops also foiled an armed robbery attempt along the Hawan Kibo–Rafin Sanyi Road in Riyom Local Government Area after engaging the attackers, who fled the scene.

The report noted that troops deployed under other operations, including Operations Fansan Yamma, Hadin Kai and AA II, continued offensive operations and routine patrols, with no significant incidents recorded during the period.
