Former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has called on the people of the state to remain united and peaceful as political activities gathers momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bello made the call on Sunday while receiving leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kogi West Senatorial District at his residence in Abuja.
He stated that unity remains the bedrock of political stability, development and the overall progress of the state.
The former governor also noted that the socio-political challenges confronting Kogi State can only be addressed through collective effort, mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence, urging political stakeholders to place the overall interest of the state above personal and sectional considerations.
He noted that while political differences are inevitable in a democracy, they should not be allowed to undermine the unity of the people, adding that greater development can only be achieved when citizens work together in pursuit of a common goal.
Bello reiterated that the foundation of unity laid by his administration is being strengthened by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, urging Kogites to sustain existing harmony across the three senatorial districts to prevent divisive forces from creating unnecessary tensions.
He also commended the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), for his commitment to the security and stability of Kogi State, describing him as a dedicated public servant whose contributions have continued to promote peace across the state.
Bello expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would secure overwhelming victory in Kogi State, citing the the consistent backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) has received from the people of
the people.
He urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure victory for all APC candidates in the state.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation and State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), and other stakeholders, expressed support for the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and pledged to work towards his re-election in 2027.
The delegation also commended former Governor Yahaya Bello for establishing Kogi State University, Kabba, describing the institution as a landmark achievement that fulfilled a long-standing aspiration of the people of Kogi West.
