Kogi Govt Mourns Rear Admiral Hamzat Sani

The Kogi State Government has expressed grief over the death of retired Rear Admiral Hamzat Muhammed Sani, describing him as one of the state’s most distinguished sons whose life was defined by patriotism, discipline and selfless service to Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo.

The government described the late naval officer’s passing as a monumental loss to Kogi State and the nation at large, noting that his remarkable service and dedication to humanity left an enduring legacy of exemplary leadership, humility and commitment to peace unity and development.

It extended condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Ihima, the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, and the entire people of Ebiraland over the loss.

Retired Rear Admiral Sani was among the few Kogi indigenes to attain the prestigious rank of Rear Admiral in the Nigerian Navy, an achievement that brought honour and pride to the state.

Beyond his military career, the late elder statesman also contributed to Nigeria’s democratic development as a delegate to the 2005 National Political Reform Conference, where he was recognised for insightful contributions to national discourse.

The state government prayed for Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give his family and loved ones the strength to bear the loss.
