The Vice-Chancellor of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Prof. Abdulrahman Salawu, has called for closer collaboration between the University and the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service (KGIRS) to strengthen tax compliance and enhance revenue administration through the newly introduced Centralised School Billing System.
Prof. Salawu made this known while receiving the management of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, led by its Executive Chairman, Dr. Sule Enehe, during a courtesy visit to his office at Osara.
The visit centred on deepening institutional collaboration, improving tax compliance and discussing the implementation of the Centralised School Billing System recently introduced by the revenue agency for state-owned tertiary institutions.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Enehe commended the Vice-Chancellor for the remarkable transformation recorded by CUSTECH since he assumed office in 2023, describing the institution as one that has continued to make impressive strides in academic excellence, infrastructural development and administrative efficiency.
He disclosed that the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service introduced the Centralised School Billing System to promote transparency, accountability and efficiency in the management of institutional revenue across state-owned tertiary institutions.
According to him, the initiative is designed to streamline billing processes, eliminate revenue leakages and strengthen financial accountability while providing a seamless payment platform for students and other stakeholders.
Dr. Enehe also presented the newly developed Kogi State Tax Law Book to the University, explaining that the publication serves as a comprehensive guide to improving tax awareness, encouraging voluntary compliance and deepening stakeholders’ understanding of the state’s tax laws and regulations.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the KGIRS management for the visit and applauded the cordial working relationship between the University and the agency.
He described the Centralised School Billing System as a timely and innovative initiative capable of improving transparency, accountability and efficiency in revenue management within tertiary institutions.
Prof. Salawu also outlined some of the revenue generation challenges confronting the University and proposed practical measures for expanding collaboration between CUSTECH and KGIRS to address the identified gaps and strengthen the institution’s revenue administration framework.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the delegation of the University’s support in ensuring the successful implementation of the Centralised School Billing System, noting that stronger collaboration between both institutions would deliver lasting benefits to the state’s tertiary education sector.
