The Auditor-General for Local Government in Kogi State, Hon. Yakubu Adabenege, has emerged National Chairman of the Conference of Auditors-General for Local Government in Nigeria.
Adabenege emerged at the 30th National Conference of Auditors-General for Local Government, which ended in Lokoja after five days of technical sessions and deliberations on the future of local government auditing in Nigeria.
The conference, hosted by the Office of the Auditor-General for Local Government, Kogi State, brought together chief audit executives, public finance experts and governance stakeholders from across the country.
The week-long conference focused on strengthening professional capacity, embracing technology and improving accountability and transparency in the management of public finance.
Speaking on the emergence of Adabenege, delegates commend his professional experience and leadership qualities, expressing confidence in his ability to advance the interests of local government auditors and promote higher auditing standards nationwide.
At the end of the conference activities, the new chairman of the Conference of Auditors-General for Local and Area Councils in Nigeria, Yakubu Adabenege led delegates on an inspection tour of major sites in Kogi State, including the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Kogi State International Airport project, Kogi State International Market and the Confluence Beach which is the meeting point between Rivers Niger and Benue.
