Gov. Ododo Mourns Terms Magazine Publisher

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed sadness over the death of the Publisher of Terms Magazine, Mallam Jafar Yakubu Maitama.

In a statement by his special adviser on media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo described the late Jafaru as a dedicated media professional whose commitment to responsible journalism, public awareness and advocacy made valuable contributions to the development of journalism.

The Governor said Jafaru’s efforts in promoting achievements of the Kogi state government despite living in Kaduna and his passion for using journalism to give voice to the voiceless by highlighting issues affecting society would remain a significant part of his legacy.

“Mallam Jafar Yakubu Maitama was a gentleman and a committed media professional who believed in the power of journalism to educate, inform and contribute to the development of society. Although he lived in Kaduna, he has supported his home state by using his platform to promote activities of the Kogi state government. His death is a painful loss to his family, colleagues and the journalism profession,” he said.

He commiserated with the family of the deceased, the management and staff of Terms Magazine, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, and the larger media community over the loss.

Governor Ododo noted that the late publisher’s calm disposition, hard work and dedication to magazine journalism earned him the respect of his colleagues and associates.

He urged the family to take solace in the enduring legacy Jafaru left behind through his professional contributions and service to society.

The Governor prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannah Firdaus and give his family, friends and colleagues the strength to bear the loss.
