PSG Stage Dramatic Late Comeback to Hold Lille to 2-2 Draw

Paris Saint-Germain staged another dramatic comeback as they recovered from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Lille, marking their second consecutive Ligue 1 draw as they begin their title defence.

Lille appeared on course for a second straight victory under manager Davide Ancelotti after taking a commanding 2-0 lead, with both goals created by veteran striker Olivier Giroud.

The 39-year-old former France international first set up Hakon Haraldsson, who fired a powerful effort into the net from around 20 yards.

Lille then doubled their advantage in the 84th minute when debutant Dilane Bakwa, who joined on loan from Nottingham Forest, curled a superb finish beyond the PSG goalkeeper.

However, PSG refused to give up. Vitinha reduced the deficit in the 91st minute with an excellent strike into the top corner, giving the visitors renewed hope.

Just four minutes later, Vitinha turned provider, delivering a cross that Marquinhos met with a powerful header to complete PSG’s dramatic comeback.

The result mirrors PSG’s opening league fixture, when they also found themselves two goals behind against Rennes before fighting back to secure a draw.

Luis Enrique’s side are still searching for their first domestic victory of the season, having also suffered a 1-0 defeat to Lens in the Trophée des Champions. Their only win so far came in the UEFA Super Cup, where they defeated Aston Villa 2-1.
