Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has directed the state government to take over the responsibility of educating the children of the late Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ijumu Local Government Area, Solomon Oyewale, as part of measures to support the bereaved family.
Governor Ododo announced the decision during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in Aduge, where he described Oyewale’s death as a loss to Kogi State, the APC and the people of Ijumu Local Government Area.
The Governor said the late Ijumu APC chairman was a committed party member and community leader who consistently advocated the development of his community and the state.
He assured the family that his administration would continue to support them, particularly at this difficult period, stressing that the contributions of the late chairman to the party and community would not be forgotten.
Governor Ododo said beyond the immediate support being provided, the state government
has assumed full responsibility of the education of the children, among other measures aimed at reducing the burden of his death on the family.
The father of the deceased, Albert Oyewale, who spoke on behalf of the family, expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo for his support and concern, describing the Governor’s intervention as a demonstration of genuine care for the family.
The Governor also paid homage to the Olu of Aduge, HRH Oba Johnson Babatunde, where he said his visit to the traditional ruler was to formally condole with the community over the death of the APC chairman, Solomon Oyewale, whom he described as a strong supporter of his administration.
Ododo said the deceased remained committed to the APC and the development of his community, assuring that his administration would continue to pursue programmes and policies that would advance the interests of Aduge community and the people.
He said requests presented by the monarch, including the creation of Aduge as a ward and road construction, would be carefully assessed and reviewed in line with the policies and priorities of the state government.
Governor Ododo prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and give the family the strength to bear the loss.
The Olu of Aduge described the deceased as a good son of the soil and an important link between the community and government, noting that his death had created a significant vacuum in the community.
