Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lafia/Obessa Ward, Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, have reaffirmed support for all candidates of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commitment was made during the party’s ward meeting in Okene, which attracted a large turnout of party leaders, executives and supporters to discuss plans for grassroots mobilisation and unity among members.
The meeting was led by the Director-General of the Kogi State Pension Commission, Hajia Mariam Abedo, who said the gathering provided an opportunity to engage with members of the party in the ward and strengthen the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Abedo said the party is working to secure victory for its candidates, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who is seeking election to the Senate, Sani Ogembe for the Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency, and the party’s candidates for the State House of Assembly.
She expressed confidence in the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, assuring him of the loyalty and commitment of APC members at the grassroots.
According to her, the party is targeting a wide margin of win for all its candidates to demonstrate strength and acceptance at the grassroots.
She urged members to remain united and committed to the party’s programmes and leadership ahead of the elections.
In his remarks, immediate past APC Chairman of Okene Local Government Area and Special Adviser to the Governor on Voter Registration and Education, Hon. Yakubu Gowon, expressed satisfaction with the turnout of members at the meeting.
Gowon said the large attendance demonstrated the effectiveness of the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts and showed that members are prepared for the forthcoming elections.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Sensitisation, Ochu Muhammed, described the meeting as part of ongoing grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
He assured the party leadership that members at the grassroots are committed to mobilising support for APC and all its candidates.
APC Chairman in Okene Local Government Area, Adomu Abubakar, also commended the large turnout by members, describing it as a demonstration of preparedness for the elections.
He expressed optimism that the APC would secure victory across all polling units in Lafia/Obessa Ward peacefully.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for members to present their concerns before the party leaders, while Abedo provided cash gifts to boost the morale of members of the party in the community.
