KOSIEC Issues Notice for October 17 LG Elections

The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) has officially issued the Notice of Election for the 2026 Kogi State Local Government Council Elections, slated for Saturday, October 17, 2026.

The Notice, dated October 3, 2026, was signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Mamman Nda Eri, in line with the powers vested in KOSIEC by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission Law and other relevant electoral laws.

According to the Commission, the elections will take place across the state’s 21 Local Government Areas, 239 Electoral Wards and 3,508 Polling Units.

KOSIEC said it had put necessary measures in place to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the elections.

The Commission called on political parties, candidates, accredited observers, security agencies, the media, civil society organisations, traditional and religious institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders to cooperate with it throughout the electoral process.

It stressed the importance of collective efforts by all stakeholders to ensure that the elections are peaceful, orderly and credible before, during and after the exercise.

KOSIEC also appealed to residents across the state to maintain peace and support efforts to ensure the successful conduct of the elections in all 21 Local Government Areas.

The Commission urged eligible voters and other participants to conduct themselves responsibly and contribute to a peaceful and credible electoral process.
