The member representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, has pledged ₦500 million for a youth empowerment programme targeting young people across 74 communities in Kogi State.
Abejide made the pledge during his homecoming ceremony at Itodo Open Field in Yagba East Local Government Area, saying the initiative would support young people in establishing and expanding small-scale businesses.
He said the programme was designed to promote self-reliance, create jobs and contribute to economic development across the constituency.
The lawmaker also declared support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the second-term bid of Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said his decision was based on his belief that both administrations were committed to policies and programmes aimed at promoting development and improving the welfare of Nigerians and residents of Kogi State.
The Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Dr Folashade Arike Ayoade, commended Abejide for his interventions in the constituency, particularly his support for widows and students.
Similarly, the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kogi State chapter, Tosin Olokun, expressed confidence in the support of the people for President Tinubu and Abejide ahead of the 2027 elections.
Olokun said the people had witnessed the impact of the All Progressives Congress-led administration and would continue to support leaders whose policies and programmes were geared towards development and economic growth.
Also speaking at the event, Emmanuel Obaro urged youths in the constituency to unite and participate actively in the political process.
