Manchester United surrendered a late lead to draw 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Bryan Mbeumo put United ahead in the 73rd minute, but Dominic Solanke scored a stoppage-time equaliser to earn Tottenham a point despite playing with 10 men.
Tottenham dominated much of the first half, creating several opportunities but failing to convert their chances as United struggled to establish control of the game.
United improved after the break and eventually broke the deadlock when Matheus Cunha set up Mbeumo, who finished clinically to give the hosts the lead.
However, Tottenham’s Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off in the 78th minute following an altercation with United defender Luke Shaw, leaving the visitors with 10 players.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, Spurs continued to push forward and were rewarded in the 92nd minute when Solanke headed home Sandro Tonali’s cross to level the score.
United were unable to find a winning goal in the closing moments, leaving the home supporters disappointed after their team failed to capitalise on its numerical advantage.
The result leaves Manchester United with six points from their opening six league matches, marking their worst start to a Premier League campaign since the 1986-87 season.
Manager Michael Carrick expressed disappointment with his team’s inability to secure victory, while Tottenham boss Roberto De Zerbi praised his players for their determination and fighting spirit.
