Kylian Mbappe scored twice to take his tally to 11 goals this season as Real Madrid defeated Sevilla to remain six points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona.
Real Madrid took the lead in the 30th minute through a brilliant strike from Arda Guler.
Mbappe extended the advantage seven minutes later after rounding Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos before calmly slotting the ball into the net.
Sevilla pushed for a comeback in the second half, with Felix Correia’s volley bouncing just over the crossbar as they searched for a breakthrough.
However, Real Madrid sealed the victory after Mbappe was brought down inside the penalty area, allowing the France international to step up and convert from the spot.
The brace took Mbappe’s tally to 11 goals in 11 appearances across all competitions, highlighting his impressive start to the season.
Manu Bueno pulled one back for Sevilla with a well-placed finish into the bottom corner late in the game, but Real Madrid held on to secure all three points.
The victory provides a timely boost for Real Madrid ahead of their highly anticipated El Clasico clash against Barcelona on October 25.
