The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Professor Salisu Ogbo, says his administration will sustain the ongoing crackdown on cult-related activities, examination malpractice and other acts capable of undermining academic excellence, declaring that the transformation of the institution remains “a task to the finish.”

Professor Ogbo made the commitment at an emergency meeting of the University’s Senate held at the University Auditorium.

He said peace, security and stability currently being enjoyed on campus would be sustained through institutional discipline, teamwork and shared responsibility.

In a statement signed by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Uredo Omale, the Vice-Chancellor said his administration remains focused on positioning Prince Abubakar Audu University as a globally competitive institution while producing graduates distinguished in both character and learning.

He stressed that the achievements recorded so far were the product of collective commitment by the University Management, Senate and the entire university community, assuring that policies promoting academic excellence, institutional discipline and quality service delivery would continue to receive priority.

He applauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his unwavering support for the University, while acknowledging the immediate past Governor, Yahaya Bello, for his continued encouragement and commitment to the institution’s growth.

On academic integrity, Professor Ogbo informed the Senate of a case involving Dr. Maji Okpanachi of the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology, who was reportedly apprehended with students writing examinations in his apartment.

He disclosed that the matter had been referred to the reconstituted Examination Misconduct Committee for thorough investigation and appropriate recommendations in line with the University’s regulations.

Earlier, members of the Senate commended the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management in recognition of the leadership that has restored peace, strengthened campus security and created a stable academic environment.

Meanwhile, the Senate of the university has approved the establishment of a Centre for Continuing Education, subject to the final ratification of the University Council.

The Centre is expected to widen access to quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities.

The Senate also approved the Undergraduate Academic Calendar for the 2026/2027 academic session.
