The youths of Ohindere/Ida-Ovu Community have embarked on the rehabilitation of the damaged New Zango Road, carrying out remedial works to improve access for residents.
The intervention involved filling potholes and leveling rough sections of the road, making it safer and more convenient for motorists, traders, and pedestrians.
The community-driven exercise was led by former youth leader, Comrade Jimoh Aliyu Itopa, who coordinated a temporary repair of the failed section of the road near Tafari Hotels and Suites. The damage was reportedly caused by erosion resulting from unchanneled water flowing from a newly constructed culvert by the state government.
As part of the intervention, Aliyu and other youths cleared heaps of sand that had blocked the culvert, preventing the free flow of water. The exercise restored the drainage channel, reducing the risk of further flooding and protecting the road from additional deterioration.
Commending the initiative, Mallam Haruna Akambi praised the youths of New Zango in Adavi Local Government Area for responding swiftly to the challenge. He noted that their efforts had restored smooth movement for residents and road users within the community.
Also speaking, a stakeholder in the Ohindere Community, Prof. Musa Adeku Ibrahim, applauded Comrade Aliyu for his sustained commitment to community development and his consistent support for initiatives that benefit the people.
Prof. Adeku described Aliyu as a dedicated youth leader who has continually demonstrated genuine concern for the welfare of the people of New Zango through selfless service and community-focused projects.
He also expressed appreciation to the Treasurer of the Ohindere Community, Mr. Olu Sule, for his unwavering support and contributions toward the successful execution of the road rehabilitation project.
