The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has recorded another milestone in research, innovation and entrepreneurship as its students secured a total of N103.5 million in grants and prize awards at national innovation competitions.
The awards were presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, by the Intra-Africa Mobility Project (IAMP) delegation led by the Director of the Entrepreneurship Centre, Professor Caroline O. Alenoghena, during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor on at the Academic Publishing Centre, Main Campus.
The achievement comprises two N50 million equity-free Student Venture Capital Grants (S-VCG) awarded by the Federal Ministry of Education to the student-led innovations, EcoDry and Waste2Light, as well as prize awards won at the 4th Tertiary Institutions Energy Challenge (TIEC 4.0), organised by the Nigeria Energy Forum in partnership with All On.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the students and their mentors, describing the achievement as a reflection of the university’s commitment to excellence, innovation and impactful research.
According to him, the success of the students’ innovations reflects the quality of research and innovation being produced at the University.
He urged the awardees to remain worthy ambassadors of FUTMINNA through innovation, creativity and exemplary conduct.
The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting student innovators whose solutions address challenges in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy and clean technology while contributing to national development.
