Super Falcons Friendly Against Ghana Cancelled

The international friendly between Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Ghana’s Black Queens, scheduled for Saturday, July 18, in Casablanca, Morocco, has been cancelled.

The Super Falcons confirmed the development in a statement posted on their official X account on Friday, citing unforeseen circumstances as the reason for the cancellation.

“The friendly match between the Super Falcons and the Black Queens planned for Saturday, 18 July 2026 in Casablanca is off, due to unforeseen circumstances,” the statement read.

The match was expected to serve as a key warm-up fixture for both teams ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which begins in Morocco on Sunday, July 19.

Neither the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) nor the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has provided additional details on the reason for the cancellation, and it remains uncertain whether the fixture will be rescheduled before the tournament gets underway.

Nigeria, Africa’s most successful women’s national team with a record 10 WAFCON titles, will compete in Group B alongside Tunisia, Algeria and Botswana as they seek to reclaim the continental crown.

Ghana’s Black Queens, meanwhile, have been drawn in Group C, where they will face defending champions South Africa, Mali and Tanzania.

Despite the cancellation, both teams are expected to continue their final preparations in Morocco ahead of their opening matches at the continental championship.
