The Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, has emphasized that peace and unity remain the foundation for sustainable development and prosperity in Kogi State.
The First Lady made the call during a one-million-women march organized by Bassa Women for Tinubu/Ododo Group in Oguma, Bassa Local Government Area in support of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Represented by the Wife of the Kogi State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Princess Karimat Muiz Abdullahi , Mrs Ododo said a peaceful atmosphere would enable the government to channel more resources towards infrastructure, empowerment programmes, and appointments, rather than expending huge funds on addressing crises and communal conflicts.
She urged the people of Bassa Local Government Area and Kogi State at large to shun bitterness, embrace peaceful coexistence, and remain united in order to attract more government projects and development to their communities.
While explaining that the Tinubu Government had provided more opportunities for women in governance and national leadership, the First Lady disclosed that Governor Ododo had already begun addressing some of the requests earlier presented by stakeholders in the area and assured the people that additional requests made during the event would also be conveyed to the Governor for consideration.
In his remarks, the Kogi State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Malam Muhammed Mukhtar Shuaibu, commended Mrs Ododo for ensuring that the various support of Nigeria’s First Lady got to women in the state.
He praised her humanitarian interventions and empowerment programmes benefiting women, the elderly, girls, widows, and persons with disabilities across the state.
He pledged the continued support of the people of Bassa Local Government Area for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the administration of Governor Ododo beyond 2027.
Earlier, the Convener of the programme and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Humanitarian Affairs, Hajia Hadiza Ibrahim, said the one-million-women march was organized to demonstrate the support of Bassa women for both President Tinubu and Governor Ododo.
She appealed for increased government interventions and development projects in the area while assuring the administration of the people’s continued support.
