The Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, has renewed its drive to strengthen professionalism, expand membership and promote ethical practice in the state.

The was part of the resolutions at the Chapter’s maiden General Meeting in Lokoja under the new leadership, where the Chairman of the chapter, Hon. Ismaila Isah, called on public relations and communication practitioners and professionals in related fields to register with the Institute and actively participate in its programmes.

Hon. Isah, who spoke on the Imperatives of Becoming a Member of the NIPR, stressed that professional registration, certification, continuous development and ethical conduct are key to building credibility in the public relations profession.

In a major move to strengthen the Chapter, six standing committees were inaugurated to support the executive committee in the running of the chapter.

The committees are to oversee professional development, members’ welfare, business and project development, stakeholder relations, monitoring and compliance with the NIPR Act and ethics and disciplinary matters.

In his remark, the Vice Chairman, Tade Oshaloto, urged practitioners and students to get familiar with the NIPR Act and comply with the regulatory requirements guiding the profession.

Members were also sensitised on the forthcoming World Public Relations Forum,with the leadership of the chapter urging them to leverage the global platform for networking, knowledge sharing and professional development.

The Kogi NIPR Chapter promises new initiatives to build a stronger, more ethical and professionally driven public relations community in the state.
