The leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi State has welcome the directive by the state advertising and signage agency on schedule of fees to be paid by candidates for outdoor advertising ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A statement signed by the state chairman of the APC, Engr Aliyu Momoh Ezzu directed all candidates running on its platform to comply strictly with state laws on signage, taxation, and ensure peaceful conduct of campaigns ahead of the elections.
According to the statement, candidates must respect the laws of the Kogi State Signage and Advertisement Agency, the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, and also warned against any acts that could be termed lawless in the build up to the elections.
The statement noted that the directive follows an earlier announcement by the Kogi State Government which released the official fees for signage and advertisements in the state among other regulatory compliance expected of all candidates.
The government had said the fees were necessary to regulate outdoor advertising and boost Internally Generated Revenue.
The party reiterates its commitment to a peaceful and hitch-free campaign across the state and urged all candidates to conduct themselves in line with the law and party guidelines.
Recall that the Kogi State Signage and Advertising Agency had released a fee structure for outdoor advertising for all candidates in the 2027 election campaigns with presidential , candidates to pay the sum of one hundred and fifty million naira, while Senatorial candidates and house of representatives candidates are to pay fifty million naira and thirty million naira respectively.
For state-level offices, House of Assembly candidates are to pay five million naira, Local Government Chairmanship candidates will pay two million naira, and three hundred thousand naira for Councillorship candidates.
