Tyson Fury has claimed that his long-awaited heavyweight showdown with Anthony Joshua is in jeopardy, blaming a rift between rival promoters Eddie Hearn and Dana White.

Fury and Joshua are due to meet at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11, with the pair scheduled to face off at a press conference in London on Wednesday.

According to Fury, both Joshua and Hearn are making another attempt to pull out of the fight just days after it was finally confirmed following months of stalled negotiations.

The trouble stems from the involvement of UFC boss Dana White in promoting the fight. Shortly after the bout was announced last week, Matchroom Sport chairman Hearn disputed White’s involvement after the American was officially named as a promoter alongside The Ring, which is owned by Saudi powerbroker Turki Alalshikh.

Hearn has repeatedly stressed that White and his organization TKO are contractually barred from any involvement in a Fury-Joshua fight, while White has insisted on more than one occasion that he will be involved in staging the bout.

Netflix, which is broadcasting the fight, reportedly wants White involved, meaning a compromise will need to be found.

Fury did not hold back in addressing Joshua directly, accusing him of making excuses and suggesting Saudi backer Alalshikh could line up alternative opponents instead.

Fury said the situation was “mainly to do with Eddie Hearn’s ego” and warned that Alalshikh was already finding alternative fighters willing to step in at short notice.

The clash follows months of protracted negotiations that saw Croke Park, Wembley and Madison Square Garden all considered as possible venues before Cardiff was settled on, and Sky Sports News has since reached out to Matchroom Sport for comment on Fury’s claims.
