The Federal Government has pledged support for Kogi State’s ongoing economic development drive, including strategic partnerships and technical assistance for the state’s proposed infrastructure and investment projects.

The development followed a meeting on Sunday in Abuja between Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, where Governor Ododo presented the state’s long-term development priorities.

Governor Ododo also briefed the Minister on the outcome of his recent official working visit to the State of Kuwait, where he explored opportunities for economic cooperation, affordable development financing, technical expertise and institutional partnerships, including potential engagement with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).

He said his administration was building a pipeline of bankable projects across key sectors, including water security, agricultural irrigation, reliable power supply, solid minerals development and industrial value addition.

Governor Ododo said the projects, which are being developed under the state’s long-term economic master plan, are aimed at boosting local business activities, creating jobs and improving living standards across Kogi State.

He reaffirmed his commitment to fiscal responsibility and transparency, stressing that the proposed projects would be backed by rigorous feasibility studies, clear implementation frameworks and sustainable financing models.

Governor Ododo added that the preliminary talks in Kuwait had opened opportunities for international collaboration, while formal financial commitments would be subject to standard government reviews and technical appraisals.

Responding, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele affirmed the Federal Government’s readiness to work closely with Kogi State in pursuing its economic agenda.

The Minister assured Governor Ododo that the Federal Ministry of Finance would provide the necessary backing and guidance as the proposed projects progress through regulatory approvals, technical evaluations and appraisal stages.

Governor Ododo was accompanied by the Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Asiru Idris.
