President Bola Tinubu on Thursday met with a delegation of Middle Belt leaders at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The delegation included Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa; Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang; Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas; former Chief of Army Staff, General T.Y. Danjuma; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and former Chief of Army Staff, General Ishaya Bamaiyi.

Other members were businessman Thomas Etuh and Dr Poju Bitrus.

The meeting was announced on Thursday by Sunday Dare, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, in a post on X, where he shared pictures of the visit.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, Dogara said the delegation visited to express support for Tinubu and discuss ways to strengthen the relationship between the Middle Belt and his government.

He said insecurity in the region had reduced under Tinubu, citing improved safety along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

According to him, the leaders also discussed ways to strengthen political cooperation and mobilise support for the President ahead of the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

Meanwhile, Governor Mutfwang said Plateau State leaders were working to rebuild trust and promote unity among people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds.

He added that young people from different communities were now holding discussions and building relationships without government involvement.

Mutfwang described the development as encouraging, saying it showed that efforts to restore peace and unity in the state were beginning to yield results.
