The people of Ibaji and Bassa Local Government Areas of Kogi State have pledged their support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The pledge was made when the representatives of the two local government areas paid a courtesy visit to the Governor on Saturday at the Government House, Lokoja.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Timothy Ojoma, said the visit was to appreciate the governor for responding to the people’s needs, particularly the demand for improved road infrastructure.
He identified road construction as a major concern in the two areas, saying Governor Ododo had taken steps to address the challenge.
Ojoma disclosed that the governor would flag off the construction of a major road project in Ibaji on Monday, November 9, explaining that the earlier postponement was to allow the contractor to move equipment to the project site and complete other necessary preparations.
He said engineering assessments were carried out during the rainy season to determine the area’s water levels and terrain, with a view to ensuring that the road would be built to withstand the environmental conditions.
According to him, the project design was also made available months ahead of the flag-off to allow for professional review and necessary adjustments.
Ojoma said, when the road is completed, it would improve connectivity, boost economic activities and ease movement for residents.
He urged the people of Ibaji and Bassa to sustain their support for the Ododo administration, adding that the communities were prepared to do more for the APC in the 2027 elections.
Ojoma attributed the governor’s development agenda to the political foundation laid by former Governor Yahaya Bello.
“The message to our people is simple. All we want is development, and we have a leader who is providing it without waiting for us to ask. We believe in the leadership of His Excellency and our Supreme Leader, former Governor Yahaya Bello. We are witnessing the development he envisioned, and this time, we are going to do even more,” he said.
