Henderson Seals Premier League Return, Signs Two-Year Deal with Brentford

Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has returned to the Premier League, signing a two-year deal with Brentford Football Club following his recent exit from Dutch side Ajax.

The 34-year-old midfielder, who left Ajax earlier this summer, joins the Bees on a free transfer, adding veteran leadership to the squad amid the departure of key players like Christian Nørgaard, Mark Flekken, and Ben Mee. His arrival marks a homecoming to England after playing for Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia and a brief stint in the Netherlands.

Henderson brings immense experience to Brentford, having made nearly 500 appearances for Liverpool, where he served as club captain for eight years. During his tenure, he won every major trophy, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Speaking on the signing, Brentford head coach Keith Andrews praised Henderson’s fitness, motivation, and winning mentality. “He is still phenomenally fit and driven to succeed. His leadership and experience will elevate the dressing room. He’s the kind of player who raises standards and expectations,” Andrews said.

Henderson began his professional career with Sunderland, debuting in the Premier League at 18 before moving to Liverpool in 2011. With 84 England caps, his international and club achievements place him among the most respected midfielders of his generation.

Brentford’s management believes Henderson’s presence will have an immediate impact, especially in mentoring younger players and bringing structure to a team aiming to stay competitive in the upcoming season.
