Kogi State Government is set to deploy digital oversight tools aimed at enhancing the monitoring and execution of World Bank-supported development projects across the state.
The initiative was unveiled during the opening of a capacity-building workshop in Lokoja, bringing together key stakeholders including the State Project Implementation Units (PRUs), the State Financial and Procurement Team (SPFP) in partnership with a technology firm which would help to drive the process.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by Deputy Governor, Joel Salifu, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to improving transparency, accountability and service delivery in the state’s project implementation processes.
“This training will equip our project teams with the tools and digital systems they need to monitor progress, address challenges, and deliver results efficiently,” he stated
Earlier, Accountant General of Kogi State and World Bank Project Portfolio Focal Person, Hajiya Habibat Oyiza Tijani, emphasized the importance of eliminating bottlenecks that hinder effective project implementation.
She said improved coordination and tracking mechanisms will contribute to the successful execution of projects aligned with global standards.
In his remark, Lead Consultant of TrendTech, the technology partner on project delivery, Mr. Anthony Edozieuno provided features of the partnership which according to him includes the rollout of a digital performance dashboard, adding that the tool will enable real-time monitoring of the eight active World Bank-funded projects in the state, offering timely insights to decision-makers and project managers.
“We have assessed the operational status of all project units and are now taking them through a four-month support phase. At the end of this exercise, every implementation unit will be aligned with the new performance monitoring standards,” he said.
