NIPR Pays Tribute to Late Bashir Chedi, Hails His Legacy of Excellence

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has joined the nation’s public relations community in mourning the death of Mallam Bashir Chedi, a distinguished Council Member and Fellow of the Institute, who passed away in Kaduna on Monday at the age of 65.

In a condolence message issued on Tuesday, the President of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, described the late Chedi as “a pillar of strength and a dependable contributor to the Institute’s growth and development over the years.”

He emphasized that Chedi’s passing marks the end of an era for the NIPR, given his decades-long dedication to advancing the ideals and standards of the profession.

Dr. Neliaku noted that Mallam Chedi’s influence within the Institute and beyond went beyond his official role, highlighting his passion for mentorship and capacity-building among young practitioners.

He said Chedi consistently embodied professionalism, integrity, and excellence, qualities that endeared him to colleagues and earned him respect across Nigeria’s public relations landscape.

“The death of Bashir Chedi has created a huge vacuum,” the NIPR President lamented.

“His wisdom, guidance, and experience were invaluable in navigating complex issues, especially at his Chapter, where he served tirelessly for the advancement of our shared ideals.”

The Institute described the late Chedi as a committed advocate for ethical PR practice, noting that his strategic contributions helped shape policy decisions and strengthen the visibility of the NIPR both locally and internationally.

His dedication to upholding the highest standards of the profession, the statement added, would remain a reference point for practitioners and future generations.

While offering condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and associates of the deceased, the NIPR reassured members of its continued commitment to sustaining the vision and ideals for which Mallam Chedi stood.
