NDLEA Destroys Over Seven Hectares of Cannabis Farms, Seizes 369kg of Hard Drugs in Kogi

Kogi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed over seven hectares of cannabis farms and seized more than 369 kilograms of hard drugs in different operations across the state.

In a press statement signed by the CSN, Abdulsalam Dahiru, the Command disclosed that its operatives, acting on credible intelligence, raided Elugu-Egugu forest on Thursday in Olamaboro Local Government Area of the state.

According to the statement:
“This operation led to the destruction of cannabis farms and the arrest of two suspects”

In addition to the raid, NDLEA operatives also intercepted several shipments of hard drugs transiting through the state to other parts of the country.

The seized substances include Cannabis sativa (otherwise known as Indian hemp) and psychotropic substances.

According to the Command, the total seizure within the month of August alone stands at over 369kg of assorted illicit substances, a success credited to intelligence-led operations guided by the leadership of NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd)

Similarly, beyond enforcement, the Agency has stepped up drug abuse sensitization campaigns across the State.

“These awareness campaigns have been held in schools, places of worship and motor parks, to educate the public on the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking.”
