Diaspora Nigerians Mobilise to Support Super Eagles Against Bafana Bafana
Nigerians living in South Africa have fully mobilised in support of the Super Eagles ahead of today’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bafana Bafana in Bloemfontein.
President-General of the Nigerian Citizens Association in South Africa, Dr. Frank Onyekwelu, confirmed this in a telephone interview.

He said the association, in collaboration with the Nigerian Consulate, had been sensitising Nigerians in South Africa to turn out in large numbers and back the Super Eagles.
Onyekwelu emphasised that while Nigeria–South Africa matches often come with rivalry, his group has been promoting tolerance and unity under the concept of Mbotu, which stands for African openness and harmony.

The association has also been engaging local law enforcement to ensure a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the match.
Onyekwelu assured that the Super Eagles will feel the presence and encouragement of the Nigerian community, adding that their support will boost the team’s morale.
Nigeria currently sits third in the group with 10 points after defeating Rwanda on Saturday, while South Africa leads the table with 16 points from seven matches.
