The member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem, has flagged off the construction of a modern town hall in Geregu community, Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Abdulraheem said the project is part of his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and improving the lives of his constituents.
He assured that the town hall would be completed within the shortest possible time and emphasized that other projects, including road rehabilitation and classroom construction had also received approval.
“These projects are not mine but yours. They belong to this community, and I urge everyone to support and protect them so they can serve generations to come. Today is proof that promises made are promises kept,” he stated.
Kogi State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Taiye Abanika, who graced the occasion, described the groundbreaking event for the community town hall as a dividend of democracy.
“This is what democracy is all about by bringing good things home for the benefit of the people. Our leader has kept his word to Geregu, just as Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo continues to rule with humility and compassion. Hon. Abdulraheem is following in the Governor’s footsteps,” he said.
Earlier, Chief host and indigene of the community, Alhaji Abdulrahman Gimba, hailed the day as historic for Geregu, noting that the old town hall had been dilapidated for years.
“This is one of the happiest days for our people. Through our representative, this project has become a reality. We will continue to support him and His Excellency Governor Ododo for bringing development to our constituency. The people of Geregu will stand firmly with them now and in the future,” he stated.
