Arsenal defender William Saliba has agreed a fresh five-year contract with the club

‎The France international, who still had two years left on his existing deal, is expected to officially sign in the coming days, committing his future to the Gunners until 2030.

‎Saliba, 24, joined Arsenal from Ligue 1 side Saint-Étienne in July 2019, though he initially spent three seasons on loan in France with Saint-Étienne, Nice, and Marseille. Since making his Arsenal debut in August 2022, he has grown into a cornerstone of Mikel Arteta’s defence, amassing 137 appearances so far.

‎His current contract was set to expire in June 2027, and his consistently impressive form had reportedly attracted interest from Real Madrid. However, his decision to extend his stay offers a significant boost to Arsenal’s long-term plans.

‎The news follows the extension of his defensive partner Gabriel Magalhães, who signed a deal keeping him at the club until 2029 earlier this year.

‎Arsenal will look to continue their strong start to the season when they visit Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday.
