In a major breakthrough against criminal elements operating in North-Central Nigeria, troops of the 2 Division of the Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation FANSAN YAMA have rescued 21 kidnapped victims during coordinated operations across Kwara and Kogi States.

‎The development was contained in a statement released on Friday by Lieutenant Colonel Polycarp Okoye, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 2 Division Nigerian Army.

‎The rescue operation, jointly executed by troops of the 12 Brigade, Lokoja, and the 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, led to the recovery of 14 males, five females, one infant, and four Chinese nationals.

‎The victims were abducted from various locations across the two states, with some held in captivity for over four months.

‎General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division and Commander, Sector 3 of Operation FANSAN YAMA, Major General Chinedu Nnebeife, ensured the rescued individuals received immediate medical attention and humanitarian support following their release.

‎Expressing sympathy for the victims, Nnebeife reaffirmed commitment of the Nigerian Army to ending criminality within its Area of Responsibility.

‎He also acknowledged the vital aerial support provided by the Nigerian Air Force and commended the efforts of other security agencies involved in the operation.

‎While applauding the professionalism and dedication of the troops, Major General Nnebeife directed both Brigades to sustain the momentum and continue to prioritize the safety and security of communities across Kwara, Kogi, and adjoining states under the jurisdiction of the 2 Division.

‎This latest success marks another significant milestone in efforts by security agencies
