Ododo’s Achievements Spark Massive Defection as 3,000 PDP, SDP Members Join APC in Dekina

A wave of political realignment has hit Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State as over 3,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and other political parties in Odu Ward I defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The mass defection, described as one of the largest in recent times, has been attributed to the achievements of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in less than two years of his administration.

Receiving the new members, Kogi State Auditor-General, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, commended the defectors on their decision to align with the APC, assuring them of inclusiveness and equal opportunities within the party.

He said Governor Ododo’s focus on grassroots development through improved road networks, provision of transformers, access to potable water and enhancement of security architecture across communities have restored public trust and confidence in governance.

Okala emphasized that the impact of Governor Ododo across communities has become a unifying factor, attracting people from opposition parties who now believe in the APC’s vision for sustainable development in all parts of the state.

On his part, the Executive Chairman of Dekina Local Government Area, Hon. John Urah, hailed the growing acceptance of the governor’s leadership style, describing it as people-focused and transparent.

He encouraged the new members to actively participate in party activities and contribute to the success of the development agenda of the Ododo administration.

APC Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Abdul AlHassan, and the Treasurer of Dekina Local Government Council,Mr. Patrick Shaibu, congratulated the new APC members and described their defection as a bold step toward progressive politics and unity in Kogi East.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Professor Aliyu Idris said their move to the APC was motivated by the visible results of good governance under Governor Ododo.

He pledged their collective loyalty and commitment to strengthening the party at all levels.
